General Travel Information
Temperatures in the Caribbean are usually moderate with very little variation. The temperatures are usually mild as Trade Winds bring steady sea breezes to the islands. However there are certain times during the year where the islands experience inclement weather. For example during the rainy or wet season (generally from May to October) in some islands there will be light to heavy precipitation so it is important to remember to bring light rain gear for those occasional showers. Generally you will experience short intermittent rain showers during this time.

Precipitation however varies greatly among the islands. Antigua for example is a relatively dry island, but Dominica which is heavily forested gets frequent showers during the rainy season. Hurricane season in the Caribbean region runs from June to November. Generally any Caribbean island can be affected by hurricanes, therefore during this period, it is advisable that travellers check local weather reports before and during their stay in the Caribbean.

If there is a possibility that a hurricane will hit land, local governments will indicate the nearest emergency shelters. However the chance of any island being affected significantly by extreme weather is very slim. Usually the islands experience the heavy rains and gusty winds from the outskirts of the hurricane, but direct hits are relatively rare.
