Different travel requirements exist for different travellers to the Caribbean therefore it is important that you are familiar with the requirements for each island being visited before travelling to the Caribbean. You may contact your local embassy in order to get specific and up-to-date foreign entry requirements for each island.
Though some countries do not require a passport for entry but require photo identification as well as proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate), generally travellers should have a valid passport when travelling to the Caribbean. The passport must be valid beyond the duration of the visit.
As of January 23rd 2007, visitors travelling from the United States via air require valid passports when travelling to the Caribbean (excluding the U.S. Virgin Islands). From January 2008 all U.S. citizens are required to present a valid U.S. passport when travelling to the Caribbean by air or sea.
Tourist visas are required for travellers from some countries when travelling to the Caribbean. Please refer to the individual travel information pages for each island by selecting a link to the right.
If visiting the islands during the World Cup Cricket period that is between 15th January and 15th May 2007, travellers may apply for a CARICOM Special Visa. This visa allows travellers to visit the following countries within that period without requiring individual visas for each island.

For most of the islands, visitors 18 years and over may bring with them the following items which would be exempted from income duties: (a) All personal effects such as clothing and toiletries, and small portable items for personal use such as laptops; (b) Alcohol not exceeding one litre; and (c) Tobacco not exceeding 250g, cigarettes not exceeding 250 in number, and cigars not exceeding 50 in number.
